Good evening, good evening, good evening!

I have decided to write this blog as a sort of thought experiment; not for any particular purpose, but to share things such as
  • Cat Photos
  • Science!
  • Top Tens
  • Sherlock Shit
  • Knitting Projects & Patterns
  • Gratitude
  • Benedict Cumberbatch
    • A note about this - July 19th (er, yesterday) is Benedict's birthday and I told M (sister) that I would post a picture of him on her Facebook every day for a year.  I fully intend to follow through with this.  I will display said photos/drawings here as well because his face is worth sharing.
So!  For my first post, I will bore you with a little narcissism.  My name is Sarah and I am a soon-to-be graduate student (which I accidentally spelled "stodent" a moment ago - OH IRONY) in Cell and Molecular Biology.  I work at my university as a biology and chemistry tutor with organic chemistry being my personal fortĂ©.  If I had to choose only three words to describe me they would be
  • Resourceful
  • Creative
  • and...
  • wow this is difficult.
  • um...
  • Feelings
  • Smart?
I don't know.  "Smart" is a pretty lame adjective.  How about
  • Irreverent?
  • Medicated?
  • Perfunctory?
  • Birds?
Fuck, whatever.  I'll go with resourceful, creative, and birds.  I do want tattoos of birds one day, so I suppose that fits.  Specific birds, though, not just any birds: a grackle and a medium ground finch.
Why?

Grackles (Quiscalus quiscula) remind me of my home, Denton (The Home of Happiness).  I love their screechy yells and that they appear in droves a few times a year.

The medium ground finch (Geospiza fortis) because it is the cutest of the birds of the Galápagos identified by Charles Darwin, my (second, only slightly behind Norman Borlaug) hero.  Seriously, look at this cute bird!

Alright, enough birds.  It really is late and I need to wake up (after going to sleep) in about... five hours, so I'll wrap this up with an embarrassing admission: ... I... forgot.  I had one when I got out of the shower.  I'll get back to you on that one.

LASTLY.  Benedict Photos for M.

Day 1: July 19, 2012

Day 2: July 20, 2012

This picture had me crying with laughter.

I am so SO SOSOSOSO psyched that M has joined me in my Sherlock fandom.

Anyway, the end. Goodnight.
